Bridging the Distance: A Long Lunch for Hearts Far from Home

2026 Date TBA

Join us for an unforgettable afternoon to support a cause that deeply affects our regional communities. Gather with industry leaders, mates and community champions for a long lunch with real impact. Proceeds will help Childhood Cancer Support to provide accommodation, transport and support services to families facing childhood cancer because no family should have to face childhood cancer alone, especially not from hundreds of kilometres away.

Postie Bike Safari

Saturday 15th August – Saturday 22nd August 2026

Each year, riders from across Queensland jump on their trusty Postie bikes and hit the open road, covering around 2,000 kilometres of stunning regional landscapes over one unforgettable week. Along the way, they raise vital funds through donations, raffles and auctions, helping make a real difference to the lives of others. In 2025, the Postie Bike Safari proudly raised more than $100,000 for Childhood Cancer Support, providing a home away from home for regional families facing the toughest of times. And in 2026, we are returning…ready to ride and raise even more.

The 2026 route is being finalised, but registrations are open now. Please note the $500 Rider registration fee will be invoiced in 2026. So, if you’re up for an adventure with purpose, don’t wait! Gear up, register early, and start fundraising today.

Want to learn more or join the ride? Contact Greg at gregbec@bigpond.com or call 0407 635 383 to find out how you can be part of the journey.

Buc-Car-Neers Queensland Adventure

Saturday 12th September – Saturday 19th September 2026

Hoist the sails and polish yer wheels, for the fourth BucCarNeers Queensland Adventure to be settin’ off through the wild roads o’ rural Queensland!

Fer three voyages gone, this band o’ scallywags has braved the highways ‘n byways, raisin’ more than $60,000 gold doubloons fer the fine folk at Childhood Cancer Support. Aye, every mile we sail by road be a mile closer t’ bringin’ hope an’ help t’ families facin’ stormy seas.

This year, we call upon new Buccarneers t’ join our convoy o’ cutlasses an’ carburetors. Bring yer wagons, yer jalopies, or yer trusty steeds o’ steel, dress in yer best pirate finery, an’ chart a course with us across the sun-burnt land. Together we’ll plunder the towns (with laughter an’ cheer), spread word o’ the cause, an’ fill the treasure chests with coin fer the little ones who need it most.

If ye can’t join the crew upon the dusty trail, ye can still toss a coin into the chest. Every piece o’ silver, every nugget o’ gold, goes straight t’ Childhood Cancer Support, keepin’ families afloat in the roughest waters. So, me hearties, will ye answer the call?

Coffee, Cake and Chat

Each week families are able to come together around our playground for a complimentary coffee, cake and chat with our Family Social Worker.  Our Coffee, Cake & Chat events allows families the opportunity to be in a warm and nurturing environment with other families alike and provide support to one another. It is also a time to forget about hospital appointments and enjoy the social aspects of being with other families.

It is a lovely environment where our children are playing in our outdoor playground whilst parents can chat and get to know each other. Many long-standing friendships have been forged at Childhood Cancer Support with our families around our social events.

We also invite guest speakers to talk with the families about issues relevant to their cancer journey.

Monthly Family BBQ’s

On the last Friday of each month, Childhood Cancer Support offers a free BBQ for all families. It is an evening where the parents and children can unwind, eat a sumptuous steak cooked on the BBQ and sample delicious accompanying foods, plus enjoy one another’s company in a relaxed and supportive environment. Our BBQs are run by volunteers, who provide this service with much love and dedication to our oncology families.

School Holiday Program

School Holiday Program

Our Family Social Worker organises activities each school holiday period for the resident families and those families who have previously stayed with Childhood Cancer Support. These activities are for all family members and are different each holiday period. Activities include arts and crafts, cooking, in-house movie days, excursions, sports or competitions. Our Family Social Worker makes the activities inclusive for patients and their siblings and ensures that if a patient wants to attend but needs some support or assistance, that appropriate arrangements are made.

Additional services

We also offer the following supports for families:

  • Free groceries or cooked meals delivered each week from OzHarvest
  • On-site gym (new equipment recently arrived!)
  • Community room/space for family gatherings or play space for the kids
