Up until the 28th of November, Childhood Cancer Support (CCS) was still unable to confirm with CHQ that a commercially operated CHQ bus would pick up families from CCS. These bus pick-ups were instead confirmed to run only from Ronald McDonald House and Leonard Lodge.
Over the next week, CCS sought out clarification for families regarding subsidised parking at LCCH, but found that there is still no indiciation for the process around this for assessing and distributing.
In the absence of answers, CCS were quick to produce a separate bus service, taking into account the feedback received from families. From Monday 1 December, CCS welcomed all oncology families, regardless of where they were staying, to contact the CCS office and utilise these services. Understandably, CCS reached out to the community for support, and help in funding the continuation of these services.
On Friday 5th, CCS were thrilled to receive confirmation that CHQ will commence shuttle pick ups from Childhood Cancer Support’s accommodation site at 6:05am, 7:05am and 8:05am daily, from the 6th December onwards.
Childhood Cancer Support will continue to seek to improve these transport services during the transitional period over to the new LCCH.
