Childhood Cancer Support is thrilled to announce that its annual Charity Golf Day, held on Friday, 27th June at the stunning Virginia Golf Club, raised a record-breaking $115,000 to support children living with cancer and their families.
This year’s sell-out event was proudly presented by Followmont Transport, whose ongoing commitment to community causes continues to inspire. The day brought together more than 140 golfers from across the corporate and sporting worlds, united by a common cause: easing the burden for families facing childhood cancer.
Australian sporting legends Sam Thaiday and Jeff Horn brought star power and heart to the green, joining teams and mingling with guests throughout the day. Their presence was a powerful reminder of the strength of community and the difference we can make together.
“This event has grown to become one of our most important fundraisers,” said Helen Crew, General Manager of Childhood Cancer Support. “Every dollar raised helps us provide critical accommodation, emotional support and care services to regional families who must relocate to Brisbane for their child’s treatment. We’re overwhelmed by the generosity shown this year.”
The day featured 18 holes of golf, player prizes, a charity auction, and special appearances by sports icons, all culminating in the announcement of the $118,000 fundraising total, the largest in the event’s history.
Followmont Transport, the event’s major sponsor, has long supported Childhood Cancer Support’s mission. Managing Director, Mark Tobin said, “At Followmont, we’re passionate about backing causes that matter. Partnering with CCS means we’re helping real families in real need. It’s an honour to stand beside them.”
All proceeds from the Golf Day will directly fund support services and accommodation for families of children undergoing cancer treatment at Brisbane’s major hospitals.
